i can’t even remember where i first heard of Supportland- but i just got an email that announced they are launching here in Portland in April!  woo hoo.

What is Supportland?  well – it’s a reward card that works across a multitude of local businesses.  it’s all high-tech and i-phone ready.  you can earn points when you shop/eat at participating businesses – and then you can redeem them at any participating business as well!  it’s like a multi-functioning license to splurge.

(do you get the name now?  SupPORTLAND? SUPPORTland?  clever).

If you live here and own a business and want to know more – they are offering several presentations about how it works and how you can get involved on the ground level:
1.  March 8th, 6:30pm at Zoomtopia (810 SE Belmont)
2.  March 9th, 7:00pm at Laughing Plant (4110 SE Woodstock Blvd)
3.  March 10th, 9:30pm at Zoomtopia (810 SE Belmont)
(if you can’t make an event – contact the Supportland folks)

anyhoo – i wanted to let local portland businesses and shoppers know about this wonderful idea and hopefully those of you in other cities will brainstorm how to make it work in your town.

blove \ noun:   1. the feeling i get when i read a blog i love!

i generally subscribe to newsletters to shops i adore…and Mink is a really sassy boutique here in Portland where i always find darling clothes and superior service.

recently, the owner, Carla, launched her blog and i think it has some really great elements that i’d like to share.

  • weekly “secret word” discount:  this is great because it gives your clients a great reason to check in on a regular basis and promotes loyalty.
  • weekly pics of new arrivals:  now you can see exactly what great new things have arrived.  a great way to entice clients to come in and try on!  it’s like a preview for a movie.
  • customer corner:  shows a pic of a client in a dress they bought at the store (and where they plan to wear it).  what a fun way to showcase your clients and make people feel like stars!
  • blog posts are personal:  the owner writes her posts and gives her readers a glimpse of life as a store owner (her trips to market, the changing of a window).  what a lovely way to connect to clients.

the design is simple – nothing fancy…but the content works.  what unique ways are you connecting with your clients through a blog?  please share- i’d love to do a blove post on you!
