did anyone say “cocktails?”  when i see Trina’s collection – it makes me want to have the glamorous life i used to have pre-baby.  the dresses are such a scrumptious mix of modern + vintage + sexy + classic.  it’s pretty close to perfect, in my opinion.  her new collection (9/30x) dubbed Cocktails Remixed is not as holiday-ish as previous years.  naturally, there are some smashing dresses – but the collection is geared to last beyond the party scene.  which is smart given what i call the “economic situation.”

i just can’t get over how cool this dress is.  i crave it.  it’s the perfect retro – not too sexy – but ooh!  a little shoulder surprise!  reminds me of the hijinx dress = which was a great seller the last few years.

by the way – the photo shoot for this collection was at Trina’s personal residence.  tres chic, naturally.

contact Nicole (or your local rep) at Trina Turk for orders and inquiries.

i can’t even remember how i found Kiki Parry’s website – but when i did, i knew i hit comedy gold.  it was my husbands 1st father’s day and she had the perfect card.  i also found the card that epitomized a friend of mine – and her fabulous hair.  and then the 1 year  old card – that’s really for the mom.

when i get around to opening my stationery store – Alternate Greetings will be there.   clever, relatable, sweet & funny….all the recylced love we’ve come to expect….and clean, modern design.

check out her offerings – you will be glad you did.

(and yes – i’ll be posting about items other than stationery this week – i’ve just been on a kick in honor of the NSS).

wish maker, wish maker, make me a wish!  make sure it’s fun!  and to-tall-y green!

(your wish is granted).

wish maker

remember those foldy-uppy things we made in elementary school (it was a 70’s thing – not sure about you younger peeps)? and you could find the name of your future husband and how many dozen kids you’d have?  well jacki paper has re-imagined them in modern, bright hues with fun wishes.  it’s kidhood recycled (that’s their motto – and it’s very clever).

 jacki paper

i didn’t realize how much i loved JackiPaper!  i have been buying her cards for years and loving the colorful paper and trips down memory lane.

i imagine these wish makers would be a hit at any store.  and even better – they are made from recycled paper leaving more trees to climb:

  • 100% recycled, 50% post-consumer
  • processed chlorine-free
  • printed with 100% wind power credits
  • soy – and veggie-based ink
  • packaged in compostable sleeves from plants
  • printed locally in their back yard (that’s so cool!)
  • battery-free fun for the whole family

come see them at the NSS  (May 17 – 20th, booth #1936)- they’re offering FREE fun (and shipping w/ cc orders).  Retails for $7, an easy $100 minimum order.

just typing the name  Old Tom Foolery makes me smile.  so catchy and rambunctious.  pure fun!  All their cards feature a typical sentiment with an “*” – which leads to a not-so-sappy one-liner.  the inside message is all up to you.  these are great for smart, clever customers with a wry sense of humor.

i LOVE their newest card idea….it could be YOURS!  they’re having a Finish the Footnote contest at the NSS (May 17 – 20th – Booth #1731) - where one lucky winner will have their snappy line made into a new card (and a $100 bucks in your pocket, nice).  Enter to win at their booth (and scoop up free totes and massages – yeah, baby).

they’re offering a show special at the NSS and wanted to let you know that even if you can’t attend the show – you can still take advantage of their offer through June 15.  what do you get?  how about some free shipping!   Just mention “the Proprietress”.  Also – you can enter their contest on the website after the show (thank goodness for all of us who can’t attend).

i see a building like this:  corner spot, beautiful windows, red brick, loft….and i yearn to open a new boutique.  yearn.  but now it not my time.  i envy the lucky soul who snatches up this beatiful building and i hope it turns into a place where i can shop.
